Quality and Outcomes 2024
Increasing Access to Quality and Outcomes Data
Mass Eye and Ear is the primary teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School’s Department of Ophthalmology and a member of the Mass General Brigham system, providing specialty ophthalmic care to patients from all over the country and world. Consistently recognized as one of the nation’s top hospitals for eye care, we are always looking to the future and striving for improvement.
Since 2010, Mass Eye and Ear has led the development and implementation of outcomes measures for the field of ophthalmology. We have consistently reported on these measures in our Quality and Outcomes annual report to promote transparency in ophthalmology and to hold ourselves accountable to providing the best care for our patients. We aim to establish universal standards that may be adopted and reported by ophthalmologists across the country, by defining and sharing clinical outcomes across all subspecialty areas.
This latest edition includes patient outcomes data through calendar year 2023. We are grateful to our outcomes research associates Buthaina Alshihabi and Vivian Douglas, and all of our clinicians, trainees, technicians, nurses, and staff members at Mass Eye and Ear, who provide the highest quality care to our patients each and every day.
Data reported represent calendar years 2014 through 2023.
All benchmarks reported reflect the most recent values in literature.
