Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery

Pediatric Otolaryngology Research

Mass. Eye and Ear has a team of fellowship trained pediatric otolaryngologists who, in addition to their clinical obligations, conduct research on leading ear, nose, and throat-related diseases that affect infants, children, and young adults.

Research Summary

Thanks to a wide range of funding sources, including government and private donors, pediatric ear, nose, and throat (ENT) research at Mass. Eye and Ear has resulted in significant breakthroughs and innovations that have advanced medical and surgical treatment.

Some of our accomplishments include:

  • Advances in ear reconstruction for children with microtia and other congenital ear malformations
  • Contributions in the treatment of newborn airway anomalies and adolescent voice problems
  • Advances in the correction of childhood hearing loss including cochlear implantation
  • Management of hemangiomas and vascular anomalies
Current projects:
  • Understanding immune-microenvironment of JRRP to uncover immunotherapy for the disease: This work aims to identify immune cell populations and mechanisms contributing to disease control in order to seek therapeutic approaches that improve anti-tumor immunity and control tumor growth.
