Our specialists diagnose and treat patients with inflammatory eye disease (uveitis) and other immunological disorders. The multidisciplinary team specializes in retina, cornea, immunology, and uveitis.

What is Uveitis?

Uveitis typically refers to a range of inflammatory diseases that affect the middle layer of the eye, called the uvea. However, in recent years, the definition of uveitis has been broadened to include inflammation of any internal eye structure, including the retina.

Although uveitis is a leading cause of blindness in the United States, vision loss can be prevented if the condition is diagnosed and treated early. However, patients with uveitis or diseases of the immune system may not be aware of their illness until it has progressed. Therefore, it's important to have regular eye exams and to closely monitor your eye health if you have an immunological disease.

Advancing Patient Care

In addition to patient care, our clinicians are conducting research to ultimately improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with uveitis and immune system disorders.
