Working with Journalists
As a Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospital exclusively dedicated to the otolaryngology and ophthalmology specialties, Massachusetts Eye and Ear is home to a large community of physician and research experts who serve as a resource for local, national and international media. The Communications Office at Mass Eye and Ear is available to assist members of the media with reporting news and events related to our institution. To ensure that media requests are fulfilled, the following guidelines for reporters, photographers and producers requesting information or interviews from Mass Eye and Ear staff:
All interviews, photo shoots and/or filming sessions with Mass Eye and Ear staff or patients must be arranged through a member of the Communications Office at Mass Eye and Ear. Please contact our Media Relations Manager at 617-573-4385.
Mass Eye and Ear does not accept interviews from companies seeking an endorsement of products or services.
Visiting members of the media must be accompanied at all times by a staff member of the Communications Office at any Mass Eye and Ear location to protect the privacy of patients and families.
Please offer as much advance notice as possible for on-site interviews, so that we may notify patient care areas of an impending visit and arrange for the availability of staff and filming locations.
In compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), patients must complete and submit a media release form to the Mass Eye and Ear Communications Office prior to any interviews and/or filming.
