Lexington, Mass. – Mass Eye and Ear’s Waltham ophthalmology location has relocated to Lexington, opening as a new, expanded center for eye care located at 110 Hartwell Avenue. The practice is one of the hospital’s 24 suburban centers, all of which strive to deliver the world-class expertise of Mass Eye and Ear specialists to patients living in the surrounding greater Boston area. This new center is conveniently located minutes from I-95 and Route 4 with free parking for patients.

In addition to the comprehensive eye care, cornea, optometry and laser vision correction specialty services that had been provided in Waltham, the new location in Lexington will expand to provide retina, uveitis and glaucoma care later this year. Michael Boland, MD, PhD, a member of the Glaucoma Service, will serve as the center’s medical director.

“Relocating to this new location will allow Mass Eye and Ear to expand our eye care offerings for patients in need of our services in a location closer to where they live and work. Our community locations are a vital link to allow access to the world-class care and research Mass Eye and Ear is renowned for. We are thrilled to begin seeing patients in Lexington,” said Joan W. Miller, MD, chair of Ophthalmology at Mass Eye and Ear and Mass General Hospital, and ophthalmologist-in-chief at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

The new state-of-the-art facility will offer the latest diagnostic equipment to aid in the management of complex and routine eye conditions, as well as specialized equipment needed to perform procedures, including treatments for retina and glaucoma conditions and laser-vision correction LASIK (using advanced technologies), PRK and SMILE. The expanded site has 18 exams rooms, 4 procedure rooms, 2 refractive lasers rooms and will allow clinicians to offer new services for medical and laser care for retina and glaucoma.
