Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery

Quality and Outcomes 2022

Increasing Access to Quality and Outcomes Data

For nearly 200 years, Mass Eye and Ear has been a world leader in otolaryngology. The hospital is home to the largest group of clinical and research faculty from the Harvard Medical School Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and is consistently recognized as a top hospital in the nation for its ear, nose and throat care.

Today, the department is constantly evolving to best serve a complex, ever-changing patient population. We take pride in holding ourselves to the highest standards possible and taking accountability for the care we provide. To that end, our department has made a long-standing commitment to assess and develop outcome measurements for each of its subspecialties.

The 2022 Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Quality and Outcomes Book is our on-going commitment to reporting transparent, accessible outcomes for otolaryngologists and patients alike. In this edition, we are pleased to report excellent clinical results despite lower reported patient volumes from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are cognizant that patients may have delayed and missed care over the past few years, and we plan to monitor the effects of the pandemic on clinical outcomes in years to come.

All reported outcomes account for patient data collected through calendar year 2021
